70th Anniversary kicks off with 30 years of World Fence News
As American Fence prepares for our 70th anniversary next year, we wanted to celebrate all the decades of success we have enjoyed. In particular, American Fence was featured on two World Fence News covers – separated by 30 years!
In August of 1987, American Fence was recognized for manufacturing and installing 60 miles (or 320,000 lineal feet!) of vinyl coated chain link fence. The ’87 job ran along the Central Arizona Aqueduct, and consisted of eight foot tall fence topped with three strands of barbed wire. The wire and posts were PVC coated in “desert brown” to match the surrounding landscape.
In August of 2017, 30 years later, American Fence was recognized for our work at Minden-Tahoe Airport in Douglas County, Nevada. Although this job was significantly smaller than the Central Arizona Aqueduct project (it consisted of only 33,000 lineal feet), the degree of difficulty was enhanced by the weather and special features of the fence. Unlike the dry desert, the project in Nevada had to deal with heavy snow and rain throughout the winter, and in fact the Governor of Nevada declared a state of emergency. Additionally, the project required unique fence installation like the “tow hook deflector” and 11 Tymetal aluminum gates.
